If you've always wanted to get a robot vacuum, now is the time. CNET's best-rated models will be available for Black Friday and Cyber Monday with discounts as high as 57%..

The Roborock Q7 Max is a powerful robot that is equipped with smart mapping and app-based no-go zones. Its 180-minute running time is impressive. It also self-empties itself and automatically refills its water tank.

1. Roomba j7+ from iRobot

The Roomba j7+ is iRobot's most advanced robot vacuum to date. Its biggest advancement is an obstacle detection system that utilizes built-in AI to detect objects such as charging cords, shoes, and the dreaded pet waste that most other robots can't avoid (and often go through). It's the first robot to send you pictures of the objects that it encounters, vacuum deals meaning you can tell that it is safe to avoid it.

The Combo J7+ is the best robot to mop we've ever tested, picking up spills and dirt with ease while leaving no trace it was there. It's easy to control through the iRobot Home app which allows you to schedule cleaning times and set up Keep Out Zones so that it doesn't sweep areas you don't want it to. And it's compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can turn it on and off by speaking to it.

The design is also superior to the competition. It has a sleek, top piece that resembles a toy rather than the loud and annoying robot hoover. Clean Base's automatic cleaning robot Dirt Disposal System also self-empties, which will reduce your cleaning time.

In our tests, we observed that the j7+ quickly took away dirt, dust, and pet hair. The rubber brushes that counter-rotate kept the debris in its place instead of scattering it on the floor. It was able to capture sand, small gravel and even a little grit. Most robots can't accomplish this feat. It did without getting caught up in our pet's hair.

While it's not quite as smart as the Roomba s9+ Self-Emptying Vacuum, which isn't able to clean stairs, the j7+ is still a solid option for those who need both mopping and a vacuum in their home. It's not too expensive and the iRobot App makes it easy to use.

Although the iRobot Home app is very easy to use however, we've found it to be less reliable than other applications that utilize robotic cleaners. It can take some time to download updates, and often it's hard to determine whether the update actually functioning until you've seen it in the action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you're looking to purchase a vacuum that does more than just clean floors, the best option is probably a hybrid. This category of bots typically includes a built-in water tank, meaning they can both mop and vacuum your home simultaneously. They also have a range of additional features, including smart mapping, small obstacles avoidance and even the ability to wash and dry mopping pads. They're costly at retail, but they often are reduced on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Roborock has some of our top robot vacuums and the Q5+ is no exception. It's their cheapest auto-empty model. While it's not equipped with certain features found on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still an excellent option if you're willing compromise a bit in order to save hundreds of dollars.

The Q5+ is noticeable soft around obstacles like tables and walls and walls, which makes it a good choice for homes with lots of furniture. It's also extremely thorough in cleaning up dust bunnies. This is a place where many robot vacuums that are less expensive do not excel in. The navigation technology in the Q5+ is superb too, with very little missing in corners and on walls.

The Q5+, like other Roborock products, can be controlled by a few buttons on the device, or via the Roborock App. The app lets you start and stop cleaning and schedules, as well as create virtual barriers and no-go zones, and alter your home map or re-label rooms.

If you choose to purchase the Q5+ model, it comes with a brand new auto-empty dock designed specifically to make this machine easy to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver however, once it's in place, vacuum deals emptying the bin is done easily. It also features an impressive LCD display which is great to have when setting up schedules or altering settings. This isn't an essential feature for everyone but it will help you keep the track of your robot's maintenance intervals with ease.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a smart, well-rounded mop and vacuum. It's capable of both vacuuming and mopping. Its design is one of the best in the industry however it's quite expensive.

It is a relatively small base station that looks beautiful and can be hidden when not in use. But the station's main selling factor is its ability to automate various tasks and functions that other robots leave up to you. It can store clean and dirty water, it electrolyzes and heats the water (which the majority of other robots require you to do), empties the dustbin after vacuuming, and helps keep your robot clean and charged.

Its vacuuming performance is also impressive. It's the only robovac I've tested that does well at picking up the dust from floors with no. It's also not as loud as the costly Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.

The Freo X Ultra is not without flaws, especially when it comes to navigation. Its LiDAR sensors and laser sensors aren’t as reliable as other robovacs. This means it can get stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms in the house. It's also not able to climb stairs like other competitors and doesn't come with a dock that can create a clean zone for carpets with plush padding.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is an excellent choice for those who need a robot vacuum that does it all.

However, if you're looking to save money or don't want to think about the limitations of this robotic floor scrubber there are many alternatives on the market with a wide range of eufy models for substantially less. The eufy Qrevo curv, for instance, is cheaper and has more features, including the ability to climb stairs and a full-function Dock, which provides an improved overall experience when vacuuming on plain floors carpets, low-pile carpets, and even high-pile carpets.

4. eufy RoboVac g30

Its design is a little more modest than other models, sporting a sleek black finish and three buttons that are physical that control Auto Cleaning, which can be paused or started. Recharge and Spot Clean (which scrubs an area in an arc for two minutes). You can also connect the G30 with Amazon Alexa or Google Home for voice commands to perform unscheduled cleaning.

The primary characteristic that distinguishes the G30 apart from its competitors is the method it cleans. It uses a built-in map to create an image of the immovable objects it encounters and then keeps track of what it has already cleaned and what it isn't able to access. If it requires a recharge, it automatically returns to its base and resumes cleaning where it left off.

imageThe eufy G30 has its flaws, though.
