The Best Robot Hoover
The
best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful
robot vacuum best vacuums we've tested. They have top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient
robotic cleaner and mop hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other
robotic cleaner and mop vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.
If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Also, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency.
